Studio Ghibli Fest 2019
It wasn’t until recently that I found out about Ghibli Fest. If you don’t know what Ghibli Fest, I’ll explain below. For 2019, the festivities started on April 7 and it was kicked off with Howl’s Moving Castle. This has been going on since 2017.
It usually starts towards the beginning of the year until the end. There are several movies that were directed by Hayao Miyasaki that are presented. Those movies include:
These movies are in theaters for a limited amount of time and at limited locations. If you visit ghiblifest.com, you are able to see the dates that the movies are going to be in theaters. If you click on the image, it will ask you to input the city that you are in and then it will show you the nearest theater that is playing the movie.
For the month of August, My Neighbor Totoro will be playing in select theaters on August 25, 26, and 28.
I have never seen a Hayao Miyasaki film in theaters before but I did get the DVD set from Amazon that features almost all if not all of the Studio Ghibli films. So far, I have watched My Neighbor Totoro but I have seen Spirited Away before. A movie that I am looking forward to watching is The Tale of the Princess Kaguya.
Honestly, anime has a special place in my heart and I love this medium so much. What movies have you watched and are excited about watching?
